Official website of artist Adrian Rigby, who is universally recognized as a world's top award winning artist. Adrian's art includes mammals, bird art, landscape art, aviation art and of course maritime art. This artist like many others painters of wildlife art, travels the world in search of subjects for his original wildlife paintings and bird art, using as reference animals and birds seen at wildlife preservation centers and others found free ranging in their native habitats.

ADRIAN C. RIGBY Born Chorley, Lancashire. 1962

Studied at Blackpool College of Art 1979-1982

Taught at Blackpool College of Art 1982-1985

Adrian Rigby creates his artwork images on canvas or board at his studios in Florida, England or Spain. He formally studied art at Blackpool Art College and paints in oil, acrylic, or gouache. After college he devoted time to painting birds and animals that he had loved since childhood and was soon selling the finished paintings to galleries. Adrian Rigby exhibits widely, and has sold paintings to collectors as far as Asia, Europe, America and Australia.

His work has sold in such luminous galleries such as Harrod's and the world famous Tryon gallery, both in London. Winner of no less than three wildlife art awards, at the juried 5th Annual Open Exhibition of The Wildlife Art Society at Westminster Central Hall in September 1996. Adrian is the only wildlife artist to date, to take three top prizes including overall best in show.

Adrian has had over 30 of his works published, mostly limited editions. However an open ended print of his sold over 5,000 copies in 1999, (it's now over 30,000) and was the biggest selling print for the publisher that year. His work has also been featured on Royal Doulton Fine China, two series, highlighting African big game and British songbirds had several runs and were sold out. Bradford Exchange has also produced several sold out editions of collector's plates featuring his art, currently,(2008) they are selling his art images on clocks and table lamps in Australia. Many articles have been written about him in society magazines like Tampa Bay Magazine and Lancashire Life {twice). Industry magazines have also highlighted his work including a two page feature recognizing his talent in America's own Wildlife Art magazine in May/June 1992 and another article Jan/Feb 2001, (they too apparently like his work).American Falconry Magazine has twice had him on its front cover and he recently was featured with a multi page spread in Western Art Collector magazine. His art has also been juried into the prestigious Southeastern Wildlife Expo, SEWE, in Charleston SC and the Waterfowl Festival in Easton Maryland. His work was juried into "Birds In Art" at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum Wisconsin, they also chose his work for their promotional poster to be displayed around Wassau.

Although wildlife art was his first love, his artistic talents have reached into other areas,he was recently asked by the Royal Airforces Association and the Royal Airforce Benevolent Fund to paint WWII planes commemorating the Battle of Britain 50th anniversary. The images were produced on Davenport Pottery Plaques, another fine china company, they too were sold out. The painting of the Titanic was the publishers biggest seller that year and that led into his love and expertise of maritime paintings to which he has contributed significantly to the field of "America's Cup" yacht racing. He is a conservationist and firmly believes that all birds and animals have a personality which comes across in the way they live, and is determined that their habitat should be preserved. Adrian is constantly pursuing higher standards of realism and accuracy. To achieve this he spends a great deal of time in the field collecting, observing and noting nature in all its moods and seasons.
